Funky Golf Clothing: For the Trendy and Daring Golfer

Most of us like to express our individuality in some small way in our business attire: the fish tie or the Chinese dragon dress socks. This also applies to other codes of dress that are traditionally conservative, such as golf clothes. This is the idea behind funky golf clothing. Imagine standard golf attire - trousers, polo shirt, billed cap - created with unusual colors and patterns or golf apparel with traditional colors but with a very distinctive style and cut, These are examples of funky golf clothing.

This is one of the more trendy golf clothing styles, to say the least. It also encompasses a continuum of styles, ranging from subtle to loud. The term "funky" may need some clarification. This isn't your father's "funky" from the 1970's. This "funky" means something that is different, unusual  or even strange, but it is still very cool.

At the subtle end you will find brands like J. Lindeberg or Ashworth golf clothing, These brands have a selection with subtle colors but that are presented with unusual flair. They are very trendy but are unlikely to offend even the most stodgy golf tastes. They may use colors no more daring than beige and grey, but still have an unusual but nicely tailored appearance. The best of this style can be fairly expensive, but really worth it if you want to set yourself apart.

Moving to slightly more daring styles you will find what appear to be traditional colors but with a little daring color thrown in. An example of this style of funky golf attire can be found in the Stromberg Funky Trousers, if you are in the UK. I haven't found this brand available for purchase in US dollars. One color combination is a traditional navy color slacks with red pinstripes. You don't really see the uniqueness at a distance, but the difference becomes obvious close up.

Now we come to the loud and daring trendy golf clothing. The styles at this end of the funky spectrum appear to offer a bit more in men's golf clothing. than in women's apparel. Check out the patterns and colors at Loudmouth Golf (loudmouthgolf.com). Subtlety is not the name of the game in terms of color or patterns here. Colors are bright and contrasting and sometime clashing. Patterns include large plaid, polka dots, cartoon camouflage, gigantic houndstooth, and even a women in bikinis pattern. This would be great fun to wear at a golf resort, keg party or even your club if they are slightly more progressive-minded or possess good sense of humor.

Obviously, funky isn't for everyone, at least not for golf. If nothing else some of these items would also make a good 40th or 50th birthday gift. But if you are bored with your golf clothing or you just want to step up your style it can't hurt to check out these items.
