A Wonderful Life-Changing Experience
Whether you opt to take local lessons at a golf course close
to home or private lessons as a package deal at an academy,
making the decision to take golf lessons will not only improve
your self-confidence and eventually your game but will also be
of benefit for the rest of your life. When you have made the
decision of which type of lessons to take and where you will
take them - it's time to follow a few basics to help you get
the most from your golf lessons from day one.
1. It's fun so enjoy yourself! : At first some of the
techniques being taught by the instructor may seem awkward and
you will probably feel so frustrated that you are never going
to get the hang of it. This is perfectly normal for beginners
and sometimes even hitting the ball in the right direction will
be a great achievement. Bear in mind, it is after all, a game,
and one that YOU are paying to learn to play. Remember to enjoy
the golfing experience and not be too hard on yourself. You are
learning and it just takes a little time and patience, so don't
walk away from your golf lessons feeling disheartened, just
relax, enjoy and have fun!
2. Don't expect too much from your first lessons: It is
important that you understand from the beginning golf lessons
are a simple way to start learning the game, pointing you in
the right direction, picking up good habits along the way.
Don't expect miracles overnight. Regular practise will most
certainly improve your skills with time.
3. Provide your instructor with information about yourself -
don't be shy! : It may be necessary to diagnose problems you
encounter whilst learning to play golf so don't be shy about
giving the instructor information concerning the level of your
game. Golf lessons are like any other learning process, so the
more information the instructor has to hand, the better he can
deal with a specific problem. Once the problem is identified
your instructor will quickly be able to help you solve it. Golf
lessons are not a situation where you just turn up at the
course. The more information that you can provide before you
even start your lessons, the faster your progress will be.
So .... you are going to learn how to play golf. Make sure
you get your moneys worth, take advantage of all that the tutor
has to offer, remembering not to take yourself too seriously
and most of all, have fun!
