4 Tips that Every Golfer Should Follow

Ultimately, golf is about providing yourself with the best opportunity to make your shot onto the green. Therefore, the focus of your game should be accuracy and keeping the ball on the fairway. With that as the overall goal, you can improve the accuracy of your shots by keeping the following points in mind:

1. Don't let your ego get between you and your best shot. For instance, if you are unsure of what strategy to use, take the safe shot. It is easy to ruin your score by trying to be a golf hero. Your mindset needs to be staying focused on just getting the ball on the green, where you can then complete the job with your putter.

2. Regardless  of where you ball lands, for you next shot you should always be aiming at a target. Developing accuracy and playing with a strategic mindset means choosing a target to shoot at, even if you cannot see the hole.

First, choose a small target, like an object or a spot on the fairway. Then visualize the ball going in that exact direction. This is a technique that has been used to help thousands of golfers improve the accuracy of their shots.

3. You don't always have to use a driver to hit the ball from the tee. Trye, the driver is the club that will give you the most range. But you pay for those extra yards with decreased accuracy. Always keep this point in mind when you are looking at advanced hazards on each side of the fairway or if the fairway is narrower than you are comfortable with.

When you are in either situation the driver may not be the best choice. Consider using one of your woods, preferably a 3-wood or the 5-wood. For that matter, you could use an iron for hitting the ball from the tee if you think you need to.

4. But no matter what your handicap is, any golfer who has been playing the sport for any amount of time will have a "lucky club". This may not be the case for beginner golfers - these superstitions take time to develop. But with time almost every golfer will eventually find that they have their "go to" club - the one club in the bag that they will consistently hit the ball well with.

The "lucky club" is invariably the right club whenever you have an important shot to make. Keep in mind that although the different clubs are each designed to hit the ball in a slightly different manner, ultimately any club will work for almost any shot. So if you find yourself needing to tee off is on a par-5 hole, and the shot must absolutely go well, and your lucky club is a 5-wood, then use it! So if you find that the 9-iron does the trick for you every time, then by all means, use it!
