Success On The Course For The Beginner
Many newcomers to the game of golf find themselves repeating
the same mistakes and sometimes totally give up before making
any real progress. An entire book could be written offering
tips for the new player but all that is really necessary is to
follow a few basic rules which will help you become a better
player and increase your enjoyment of the game every time you
visit the golf course. It is not a good move to go out and buy
an expensive set of golf clubs, which will stay in the closet
gathering dust if the beginner starts the game and gets in too
deep, then gives up easily.
Practise A "Keep at It" Strategy
Whatever obstacles you find yourself facing when you start
to play golf you should learn to "keep at it". As with anything
in life requiring skill you have to persevere. The
gratification of playing golf comes later rather than earlier
and the skills you are learning everyday take time to build up,
eventually enabling you to play a great game of golf.
Although it may sound straightforward, hitting the ball when
you are out on the golf course can be difficult. Added to this,
the majority of people who take up golf have already reached
their adult years and have, therefore, lost some the basic
learning skills we have when we are younger so it is harder to
absorb the process of how to play golf. This fact is reflected
by the super fast rate children pick up the basics of golf when
given the opportunity.
Have A Little Patience
Having a little patience is essential when learning to play
golf. It's no good getting angry when things are not going
right. You must remember that playing good golf can take a few
years to achieve as there are so many techniques of the game
for you to learn. The last thing you want is for frustration to
take over and ruin or finish your golfing experience
prematurely.
Can It Be So Difficult?
The sport of golf has many different types of play. For
example there is the short game requiring precise motor skills
by your hands, the long game where strength and great timing is
needed, and putting where an aiming skill is necessary. Every
hole on the course will have a specific hazard zone which will
be necessary for you to avoid when hitting the ball.
Bear in mind, while you can read up on and put into practise
every possible tip, your overall patience will determine how
good a golf player you become. Take it slowly, keep at it and
you will enjoy the wonderful game of golf for many years to
come.
