A Guide To The 3 Basic Club Grips For Beginner'sThe descriptions of the three most common types of grip on your golf club are Overlapping, Interlocking and the Baseball Grip. All three types of grip are simple variations of each other. The size of your hands, your hand strength and your finger thickness will determine which type of grip is the most comfortable for you to use. Listed below is a basic outline of each type of grip. The Overlapping GripThis grip is recommended for people that have large hands. A famous old-time golfer by the name of Harry Vardon has made this particular grip so popular. The overlapping grip is whereby you grip the golf club at the top with your left hand. The tip of the club should rest close to the area where the edge of your palm meets the base of your little finger. The shaft will cross close to where your ring and middle fingers connect, and then across the middle of your index finger. It is then essential to curl the fingers of your left hand around the club. Your small finger on your right hand should be neatly placed into the groove between the index finger and the middle finger of your left hand. The shaft should rest naturally inside the channel that you have created by curing the fingers of your right hand around the grip. The thumb of your right hand should be placed on top of the shaft, pointing downwards. The thumb of the left hand should be resting directly next to the thumb of the right hand, which is also pointing downwards towards the shaft. The Interlocking GripGolf Books
This particular grip is another version of the overlapping grip. The same steps are utilized as would be for the overlapping grip. The only simple difference being that you rest the little finger of the right hand into the groove between the index finger and the middle finger of your left hand. You then interlock the little finger of the right hand into the index finger of the left hand. The interlocking grip is one which seems to suit many golf players that have smaller hands and short fingers. It is generally a grip which is chosen by ladies and young players when first being introduced to the game of golf. The Baseball GripAnother name for the baseball grip is the "10 fingered grip" due to all 10 fingers being wrapped around the club. It is a far less conventional grip than those of the overlapping grip and interlocking grip. It is a very simple grip, and it is achieved by holding the golf club with the left hand close to the body, and inserting the right hand to the grip. The hands should be touching and all eight knuckles should be lined up on the under portion of the shaft. It is an exceptional grip for both men and women who do not have particularly strong hands. It provides each individual with a better grip of the golf club, whilst making it less troublesome to move the wrists around when taking a shot.
