Taylor Made Hybrid Golf Clubs: They Started It All
Once you have decided to get hybrid golf clubs, it is reasonable to ask if you should get a
Taylor Made model. Funny you should ask, because Taylor Made marketed the original club of this type. For the last
thirty years they have been designing and manufacturing hybrids.
Given this fact it is easy to understand why they have what is probably the most extensive line of hybrid golf
clubs. To start with all the Taylor Made hybrids are available with both steel and graphite shafts. But that is
just the beginning of the range of clubs they have. Let's look at the models available.
The Taylor Made Rescue Dual Hybrid is the basic hybrid model. It is a great club for a beginner whose swing
speed is only 55 MPH or more, but it also works well for more experienced golfers with a swing speed approaching
100 MPH.
One of its better features is the ability to modify the inherent ball trajectory with an adjustable weight
distribution. For instance you can adjust it to have a slight draw bias if you normally tend to slice the ball.
Additionally you can change the inherent ball loft with this club. This is why it is such a good club for a range
of player skill levels. Beginning golfer may want more loft on the ball, whereas experience golfers will likely
prefer less loft, giving them more distance.
The club head on the Rescue Dual provides forgiveness for mis-hits regardless of its relatively small size. It
is available for both right an left handed players. The R7 Draw Rescue is also for beginning golfers and some more
advanced players as well. It is design for golfers whose swing speed is between 55 and 105 MPH. This model has no
adjustment for changing the weight distribution. However it is designed with players in mind that have a slice
because it has a draw bias.
The Taylor Made manufactures the R7 in both right and left-handed models. There are also women's models
available.
The Burner Rescue is Taylor Made's hybrid golf club for more advance players with a swing speed of 70 MPH or
higher. It has a number of innovative design features. The club head is large with a center of gravity that is both
lower and deeper (toward the back), and the weight is distributed more toward the periphery of the head. These
design elements allows the club to be both forgiving and have a high launch angle.
Better still is the fact that the Taylor Made Burner Rescue will transfer more energy to the ball, which gives
you more distance in your shot. This is due to the high coefficient of restitution (COR) of the material that
composes the club face.
This hybrid golf club comes in both men's and women's models. Left handed models are also
available.
The next club in the hybrids is the Taylor Made Rescue TP. It is made for high skill players that have a swing
speed that is at minimum 90 MPH. The club face is smaller and shallower than the Burner. Shots made with this club
produce less backspin and have a shallower launch angle. Needless to say this model is intended for a near pro
level skill and handicap.
There are no women's models available in this model, but it is available in left-handed versions.
Finally, at the very top of the Taylor Made hybrid golf club food chain are the Rescue Dual TP models, which are
designed for pro performance levels and a swing speed exceeding 100 MPH. Like its lesser sibling, the regular
Rescue Dual, the weight distribution of the Rescue Dual TP can be adjusted to the players preference. But compared
to the regular Dual, the center of gravity is located slightly higher in this club.
This model is also available for lefties and it is manufactured with tour level shafts.
Given the range of selection, it is highly advisable to try out the Taylor Made line of hybrids. You need to
give these models serious consideration, if for no other reason than Taylor Made's long history with the hybrid
golf club.
